Waiting for You Music by Hannah Rand. Lyrics by Lenora Rand © 2016 Plural Guild Music Verse 1 The earth cries out, nothing feels right. The world cries out, no justice in sight. Fires burning everywhere, Too many, too hot, too bright. Chorus We are waiting for you. (repeat) We are waiting for that Gloria in excelsis Deo. (repeat Gloria) Verse 2 The child cries out, “don’t turn out the light.” Broken hearts cry out, no end of hurt in sight. Greed and guns rule everywhere, Too many, too strong to fight. Chorus We are waiting for you. (repeat) We are waiting for that Gloria in excelsis Deo. (Repeat 3xs) Bridge Let us be a sign of hope Let us be your arms of love Let us be the ones that say There is another way (repeat) Chorus We are waiting for you. You are waiting for us, too. We are waiting for that Gloria in excelsis Deo. (Repeat 3xs) Coda We are waiting for you. You are waiting for us, too.

about

Advent is traditionally a time of waiting...when we sit with the way things really are, as painful and broken as they really are, in our world and in our lives, and hold them tenderly and gently, with the hope for how things are meant to be. Advent is about saying there is this beautiful world we all want to believe in and be living in. And there is a terrible not-yet-ness about that world. Advent is about facing the truth of what is right now, and remembering what it takes to get to a Christmas kind of world.

That's what the songs on this EP reflect.

The waiting of Advent. The looking for signs of hope. The lament and the longing to find our way to love. Written for people to sing together...in congregations, small groups, wherever you gather to worship, pray, imagine, hope for and work towards a new day, a new way, where love and mercy win.
